Mr. P Chidambram Finance Minister while delivering lecture in one school at Pensilvania in USA has said that any intelligent country would not miss the bus going through nuclear deal to enlargement of potential of nuclear power production and nuclear energy. He further said that it is 123 agreements which enables a nation which in non-signatory to NPT (Non Proliferation Treaty) to deal for nuclear raw material and technology. In his opinion it is not wise to delay or avoid the proposed nuclear deal and we must operationalise the deal, the sooner it is possible. He asserted that the government will leave no stone unturned to operationalise the deal.
Of course it is true that we cannot cope with the electrical power demand likely to rise in the near future and we must plan from today itself to generate more and more power so that future generation may not sink in darkness and the growth engine of industrial production is not decelerated.
But the wise minister should explain his wisdom and the importance of the deal to leaders like Prakash Karat of CPM and all those who are opposing the deal in India. It is futile to enlighten elaborately the benefits of the deal in a school of USA.
For three years they have been heading the Government and CPM is a part of the government directly or indirectly, they should make efforts first to explain the merits of the nuclear deal, convince and motivate those who forms a part of the government .Then comes the number of other opposition parties like Samajwadi Party or Bhartiya Janta Party or any other for that matter. And it is only when domestic front comprising of ruling ad opposing parties is fully convinced or at least largely accepted we should go ahead discussing the issue with foreign countries.
Unfortunately on the issue of nuclear deal, our government has moved through a tough and wrong way. They first discussed the demerits and merits with foreign nation dignitaries, then opposition parties and lastly discussing the matter their own colleagues (in CPM) forming the government. They did not think it necessary and fit for discussion and hence not debated the issue in the Parliament.
But our learned and experienced Finance Minister Mr. Chidambram is ready to explain the Pros of the matter in a school at Pensilvania in USA and as a failed soldier he requested student of the school to invite Mr. Prakash Karat to explain Cons of the deal. Of course it may be told as a joke, but the joke when touches the reality, it is very much pinching and acts as an agent to add fuel to fire. Already Mr. Prakash Karat is burning in a fire ignited by him; Mr. Chidambram has done nothing but sprinkled salt on his wounds. At least he should keep in mind that the meeting for reconciliation on the matter is at hand.
It is true that CPM is also firing in the wind daily and giving one after other veiled threatening to the Congress Leaders. But if the same mistake is being committed by one who preach the sermon for others ,it is really disheartening and constrain us to believe that the life of the government is very short.
